Being a fashion stylist isn’t something I ever imagined myself doing. It never occurred to me as a career until few years into architecture school.

Naimah, what is fashion styling to you?
I’ve always seen myself as a creative person, which is why I chose to study architecture. I desired a creative outlet and architecture was it – creative expression with a degree of seriousness, as my parents would not allow me study Art, due to personal and religious reasons. I have also always loved fashion and as a child I played dress up. My mum being a tailor, gave me access to magazines and clothes that developed my innate ability to mix, match and repurpose.

My interest in photography, especially self portraits of me in inventive poses tops the list of my favorite pastimes. Setting them up shooting and editing give me an incredible rush. I love the irregular and extraordinary, and even though I am on a journey of self discovery I’m happy to capture and document each step.

I call myself the fashion architect because I want to unite fashion and architecture and through this unity, express myself.
