Primary Purpose

This inaugural Fab-Lab 01 hosted in association with 9H Design Talks sets out to expose practitioners and students to the benefits of open and frank peer review. The CIA – Lagos here stands for Critical Internal Assessment. We looked at “The Ones That Got Away” i.e. failures, beloved projects that never saw the light of day. The audience played the client and examined our submissions. Ade Shokunbi, Tolu Onabolu, & Koku Konu presented failed competition entries for 2 separate Sterling Bank plc. buildings. Incidentally, both were won by the same firm. Olu Amoda, celebrated artist and lecturer shed light on equally miserable outcomes for art several competitions he had entered. Onyeka Nwobu, fashionista & writer laid bare the painful truth models face after repeated casting rejections. The Fab-Lab ended on a sombre note. We creatives need to up our game so that whatever it is we are selling, is indeed worth buying.
